Somewhere in the sea between psych rock and ambient music, Portraits of Pirates has discovered sonic treasure and bottled it into an album. The “Floating Gold” LP was released on November 9th 2024, and is the first release from this project that consists of Venice Beach guitarist Vince Cuneo. Known for being one of the founding members of the psych rock duo Movie Club, Vince began playing ambient music as a form of meditation. He soon dug up ideas that took shapes of their own and Vince began regularly performing his tunes live at cannabis yoga events. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Vince grew up a Pirates fan, and on a trip to Disneyland a year ago, found the name of his future side project while waiting in line for the ride Pirates of the Caribbean and staring at the paintings of pirates on the walls.….Follow @portraitsofpirates on instagram for updates.
